Anissa Knox is a Senior Associate Attorney in the Northern California Workers’ Compensation office, coming on board in June 2025. She has been a licensed attorney in California for over 20 years, initially working as a civil litigator in cases deemed “complex” by the Superior Court. In 2017, she shifted her practice into the Workers’ Compensation area, and for eight years worked solely in the defense of employers and insurance companies. This unique experience gives her clients the edge as she can anticipate potential defense arguments, identify aspects of a claim where the defense may be vulnerable, and knows how defendants monetarily value claims.
Anissa self-financed both her undergraduate and law school education. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Whitman College and upon admission was deemed a Claire Sherwood Memorial Scholar. This four-year scholarship is offered to only the top 1% of applicants and is awarded to exceptional students who exhibit outstanding academic achievement, leadership and contributions to their schools and communities. She received her Juris Doctor from McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific, where she attended night classes while working full time at a local law firm during the day. While in law school, she received an American Jurisprudence (AmJur) award in Legal Writing, which is presented to law students who receive the highest score in a particular course.
Anissa was destined to represent injured workers. Even while working as a defense attorney, colleagues and opposing counsel would openly comment that Anissa has “a heart for the injured worker”. Once her one and only child relocated to New York City to pursue post-high school studies, Anissa made the decision to “switch sides” and pursue her dream of utilizing her knowledge and talents for the benefit of injured workers! She is passionate about collaborating with clients to ensure they receive superior legal advice while respecting that the ultimate decision to resolve each claim rests with her clients.
When not practicing law, Anissa enjoys sending funny “care packages” to her son, watching sports documentaries and playing card and board games with family and friends. However, what feeds her soul is adopting senior animals who find themselves in animal control and/or rescue facilities. Her goal is to give these animals a quiet and relaxing “third act” in life. Upon passing, Anissa honors the late pet by rescuing another to take its place. As of 2026, she has one 14-year-old cat and a 9-year-old bulldog.
